Liquor License Info

Liquor licensing in the State of Colorado is a dual authority, meaning that the Town of Dillon carries out the process as set forth in the Colorado Liquor Code and administered through the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. Liquor laws in the State of Colorado restrict the sale and dispensing of alcohol beverages. Any person intending to manufacture, sell, or deal in beer, wine or spirituous liquor in the State of Colorado must apply for a liquor license.

Applications are available at the Town Clerk's Office or online at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/enforcement/retail-license-packet-liquor-enforcement. It is recommended that you set up a meeting with the Town Clerk by calling 970-262-3407 or emailing to astuckey@townofdillon.com to review the comprehensive application packet to assure a smooth application process.

We recommend all licensees sign up for the Liquor Enforcement Division E-mail subscription.

Renewals:

Liquor licenses are valid for one year from the date of the approval by the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division and must be renewed each year. Approximately 90 days prior to the expiration date of the license, the licensee will receive a renewal application from the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division. This form needs to be completed, signed and submitted to the Town Clerk's office for processing along with the appropriate state and local fees attached.

If you do not receive your renewal paperwork from the State and your liquor license expiration date is near, please contact us. It is important that this be done, since failure to renew by that date will result in a $500 late renewal application fee or expiration of the liquor license.

Changes:

Any changes in operating manager, corporate or trade name, corporate partner, partnership, location, change or transfer of ownership, limited liability director, stockholder company member, or modification of licensed premises must be reported to the Clerk's office for consideration by both the local and state licensing authorities.

The licensee must maintain possession of the premises for the entire licensed period by virtue of a lease, assignment of lease, or deed to the licensed premises.

Special Events:

Special Event Liquor Permits are available through the Town Clerk's office. These licenses allow a qualified non-profit organization to sell or dispense alcohol beverages in conjunction with fund raising and other activities while insuring full compliance with all applicable state and local laws and ordinances.

Marijuana License Info

The Town of Dillon allows both retail and medical marijuana licenses within designated areas of the town. Town Council approved a resolution allowing for three (3) retail marijuana licenses in the Town of Dillon. One must have a retail marijuana license in the Town of Dillon to apply for a medical marijuana license. Currently, all licenses are in good standing and no new licenses are available.
